hello!
MY NAME IS MAHOGANY SIMONE SIMMONS
Mahogany Simmons is a visual artist from Douglasville, Georgia. Her work is rooted in the beauty of simply being. She captures Black individuals in states of relaxation, focusing on quiet, intimate moments that often go unnoticed. Through her work, she emphasizes that Black people do not have to be posed, performative, or larger than life to be worthy of admiration. There is power and beauty in existing naturally. Her practice challenges the expectation that visibility must come through spectacle. Instead, she centers stillness, softness, and authenticity, allowing her subjects to exist as they are. By doing so, she creates space for a deeper appreciation of everyday presence and emotional ease. Her work invites viewers to slow down and recognize that Blackness, in its most natural and unguarded state, is already enough.
